In honor of my parents coming to Nashville this weekend, here’s a list of quotes I jotted in my phone from my last visit home. I’m not exaggerating here – these are direct quotes from my parents as I heard them. I don’t think they knew I was typing.
##
Mom, Googling: “How come there’s no results for ‘cats in human years’?”
##
Dad, about things that are and aren’t funny: “I was addicted to the hokey pokey, but I turned myself around. Now that’s a good joke!”
##
Mom, about that black bear that was on the loose in Michigan and Northern Indiana: “I’m kind of surprised they’re just letting that black bear move around. I mean, right now, it’s roaming around destroying people’s bird feeders!”
##
Dad: “I like Kid Rock because he mentions a 30 pack of Stroh’s in one of his songs.”
##
Mom: “Horses are fast in a race. You know who else would be fast in a race? Cats.”
##
Dad, about an animal on TV: “What kind of dog is that?
Mom: “Pikachu?”
