I’m going to a wedding this weekend, allllll the way up in Alpena, MI. Since this is an 8+ hour trek, I did a little research today on hotspots along the way. Surely, I thought, there have to be some good tourist attractions, like a giant ball of yarn or the world’s largest buffalo, between Indy and Alpena, right?
This is what I found:
Fall Harvest Festival
10/1/2011
In: Alpena
This event is sure to be an original this year with a huge, one-of-a-kind bear hay bale sculpture. As “quilting” is the theme this year, stop by to help “wrap up” our hay bear with your own crafted patch in our big quilt. We will have local crafters and demonstrators which include rope making, corn fiddles, quilting, Sterling Engines, a pie baking contest and much more. Standard admission prices apply. 12-4pm. For more information on this event, visit the link or call the museum.
I mean, I am just hoping I can make it. It seems very exclusive, only being open from 12-4 and all.
Guess I’ll plan to get there around… 11:45?
I’d recommend a money belt or a fanny pack. the crowds can get crazy during quilt-themed harvest parties.
