Our church has started a community garden in a “tough” neighborhood in Denver’s West Side. We planted seeds a few weeks ago and returned this Sunday to weed and plant some more.
I’ve never gardened before, but I’ve always wanted to learn how. I must say that I’ve loved going to this garden, the times that I’ve planted and returned to weed and water. It’s a good feeling to know that we’re serving God in this way–meeting the direct needs of the people in this neighborhood. I hope that once the plants grow a little bigger, the people in the West Side community will stop by to pick some fresh veggies for themselves and that we may get to know them a little better in the process.
Here are a few pictures from Sunday:
The garden looks great! You should be so proud!
Great pictures and good words…for real…about the garden.
