Anything you can do, I can do better

Today, I overheard two women having this conversation:

Woman 1: Oh my goodness, can you believe it snowed last night?

Woman 2: Yes, and did you see how icy the roads were? I was scared to drive!

W1: Well, they were icy, but I wasn’t scared to drive. For whatever reason, I just don’t have trouble on icy roads!

W2: Me neither. I actually prefer to drive on icy roads! It’s exciting! I just get nervous of other drivers.

W1: I know. Actually, one of my friend’s dads was driving one Winter and slipped off the road. He ended up dying.

W2: That happened to one of my family members! It was so sad.

W1: Yeah. My friend’s dad was in a coma.

W2: Really? My family member was, too! But, it was so tragic. He was unrecognizable.

W1: So was my friend’s dad. They finally had to take him off of life support. It was so sad.

W2: Well, you can imagine how hard it was for me then! This family member was like a brother to me! It was like losing my own brother!

W1: My brother did almost die once. He had a severe allergic reaction.

W2: I have allergies really bad, too. The doctors say it’s serious. I could die.

W1: Yeah, it was so scary when my brother had that severe allergic reaction.

W2: My grandfather passed away a few years ago from prostate cancer.

W1: My grandfather passed away from lung cancer.

W2: Well, I’ve heard prostate cancer is just awful.

W1: Not as bad as lung cancer, though. That’s terrible.

W2: The saddest thing is that my grandma is left all alone now that my grandpa’s gone. She doesn’t know what to do with herself!

W1: My grandma died while my grandpa was dying of lung cancer. That is just terrible. It’s the worst thing I could ever imagine.

W2: No, I think it’s worse to be the last one left.

W1: No, it’s definitely worse to go while your husband is so sick.

Really? Arguing over the most painful death stories? Really?!
